Having been selling SVC for some years I have often felt that the list price was out of line with the typical end user purchase price.  This has complicated the sales process and often leaves a customer with a big jump in maintenance charges when the “special bid” maintenance period ends.

At last IBM has also realised this situation needed changing and has, effective 30 August 2011, taken competitive action with SVC by reducing prices by up to 27%.  To help support ROI, a 15-20+% reduction will be made in most SVC tiers, with a higher reduction for the entry-level tiers to make the solution more cost effective against the low cost disk subsystems available in the market.

This pricing action is designed to:

– Make SVC more affordable than buying additional disk to virtualize storage

– Better align SVC’s TB prices with the current price of disk capacity

– Address the disk hardware pricing decline that is impacting ROI gains.

This new pricing represents a significant savings for customers, if you would like to discuss this then please contact sales@applied-tech.co.uk or visit applied-tech.co.uk
