Dell bring Compellent/EqualLogic hybrid to the table…
Now is certainly a good time to be an up and coming storage vendor. After HP announced their purchase of 3PAR earlier this month we are starting to see the fruits of last years Dell acquisition of compellent.
So chuffed with their new Compellent ‘Liquid storage identifier’ Dell have decided to rebrand their entire storage portfolio. The first of these new offerings were showcased in Miami earlier this month at the Dell partner conference. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to Miami, but reports tell me that the following were the highlights:
1) 16G-bps Fibre Channel infrastructure interoperability – Compatibility of a Dell Compellent Storage Center SAN with a Brocade 6510 16Gb Fibre Channel switch was demonstrated.
2) Dell PowerVault MD3600f/MD3620f now has fibre channel functionality.
3) Network attached storage has been added to the Dell EqualLogic line in the form of the FS7500.
New products are not due to be released until later this summer… more news to come.
