It seems that in 2011 social businesses are more agile, responsive and successful than others out there. This appears to be something that VMware has not overlooked making their 3rd acquisition in the social collaboration market, with Socialcast VMWare’s most recent purchase.
Socialcast’s software brings together information from collaborative business tools such as SharePoint and Microsoft outlook, pulling through emails, calendaring and offering text chat, hence making information much more easily placed and a lot easier to digest.
Admirers and current users of the software include Nokia and Philips electronics. Socialcast allows people, information and enterprise applications to interact within communities creating a collaborative working environment something that I believe will become more and more important in the post PC era where many employers expect to be able to offer their workforce the ability to work from any geographical location.
