Just over a year ago Citrix invested in the VDI solution provider Kaviza. On the 23 May it has announced that Citrix has now acquired Kaviza.

Last year I started out looking at the thin client market and how we could leverage more in the SMB market, VMware had not launched it’s View 4.5 product and I had a look at Kaviza.

I was impressed with the product from the start . So why did I like it so much ? The answer was simple :-

  • It is very low cost compared to the other vendors out there
  • It uses the a grid architecture of small low cost servers that require very little management
  • Use of existing internal disk
  • Scales from the small environment into the enterprise
  • You don’t have to be an IT guru to install and run it.
  • Interfaces well with VMware and Citrix, with Microsoft Hyper-V just around the corner

So just on these points alone it was worth partnering with Kaviza. At the time I was aware that Citrix had invested in Kaviza and it made sense that opportunity to partner was taken.

As part of the acquisition there will be no more ‘new’ Kaviza partners, therefore that leaves us as one of the limited number of partners able to provide the ‘full Kaviza experience’
