A previous blog discussed the capability to move not just the i/OS licenses but more recently the i/OS user licenses as well.
Following a further update session with IBM, it seems that the transferred i/OS license actually receives 1Yrs SWMA.
The license transfer cost is approximately £4700 plus VAT, IBM List Price. This now looks alot more reasonable, especially for P30 and above systems as 1Yrs SWMA is £4514 plus VAT.
Please remember that rules exist around the movement of i/OS licenses, for example you cannot move a license, for example, from a POWER5 570 to another POWER5 570.
If you need to rebalance workloads, please also remember that you are able to move processor and memory activations between like systems.
